在2007 / 08年度裏，芝麻籽的價格就像火箭般地快速飛漲！
In the period between Sept 07 to April 08 sesame prices moved from a low of 940 FOB to a high of 2700 FOB, and increase of about 187 percent in nine months.
在2007年9月份—2008年4月份期間，芝麻籽的價格從940 FOB的低價位，上漲到2 700 FOB的高價位；也就是說，在9個月裏，芝麻籽價格上漲的幅度，大約達到了187 %。

The emergence of China as the world’s biggest importer over the past 4 years is the most significant single factor from the demand side. Let us not forget that China was one of the biggest exporters 8 years ago.
從需求的方面而言，在過去的4年裏，中國已經成為世界上最重要的芝麻籽進口國，這是一個意義最大的因素。我們不要忘記，就在8年之前，中國曾經還是世界上最大的芝麻籽出口國之一。

Japan is the second biggest importer.
日本是芝麻籽第二大進口國。
Japan imports roughly 60/65 percent for oils crushing and the rest is edible grade sesame seeds.
日本進口的芝麻籽，其中大約有60—65 %用於榨油，而餘下的就是可供食用的芝麻籽。
Japan demand is constant and rising slowly.
日本對芝麻籽的需求是穩定的，而增長卻是緩慢的。
ASIA IS THE BIGGEST IMPORT AREA
亞洲是世界上最大的芝麻籽進口地區
Besides China and Japan the third biggest importer in Asia is South Korea.
除中國和日本外，韓國則是亞洲第三大進口國。
Hence if we add the demand from Asia it comes to about 500,000 making Asia the single biggest region
因此，如果將亞洲的需求加在一起的話，那麼數量大約就有500 000噸左右；這樣，就使亞洲成為世界上最大的芝麻籽進口地區。
MIDDLE EAST DEMAND
中東的需求
After Asia the next biggest region is the middle east. In the Middle East the biggest two importing countries are Turkey and Egypt each importing about 80,000t . Other middle countries import approximately another 100,000 which include Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Gulf countries and Iran.
中東是僅次於亞洲的最大的芝麻籽進口地區。在中東這個地區，兩個最大的進口國就是土耳其和埃及，它們各進口大約80 000噸。而其他的中東國家，總共大約進口100 000噸，這些國家包括：敘利亞、黎巴嫩、約旦、沙特阿拉伯、葉門、海灣國家和伊朗等國。

Europe is the next biggest import area after Asia and the middle East importing approximately 100,000mt mostly to Greece, Germany, Poland and Netherlands

The next major import region after Europe is North and South America. The US and Canada import about 50,000t and South America about 30,000mt.
北美和南美，是僅次於歐洲進口芝麻籽的主要地區。美國和加拿大的進口總量大約有50 000噸；而南美的進口數量，總共為30 000公噸。
SUPPLY FACTORS
供應的因素
The biggest exporter in the world is INDIA followed by SUDAN and ETHIOPIA.
印度，是世界上最大的芝麻籽出口國；其次，則為蘇丹和埃塞俄比亞。
India exports more than 300,000t and Ethiopia/Sudan each about 150,000t.
印度出口芝麻籽的總量達300 000噸以上，而埃塞俄比亞和蘇丹各出口大約150 000噸。
BIGGEST PRODUCERS
最大的芝麻籽生產國
The biggest producers (not exporters) are Myanmar and China but most of the production is consumed domestically.
芝麻籽最大的生產國（不是出口國）則是緬甸和中國；但是，它們所生產出的芝麻籽，大部分產品都只是供應其各自的國內消費而已。
OTHER IMPORTANT EXPORTERS IN AFRICA

The other export countries in Africa are
Nigeria尼日利亞: 60,000t
Tanzania坦桑尼亞: 30,000t
Mozambique莫桑比克 : 18,000t
Burkina Faso布基納法索 : 15,000t
Other countries include Mali, Senegal, Chad etc but are not significant exporters.
其他的一些出口國包括：馬裏、塞內加爾、查德等國；但是，它們都是一些出口數量不多的出口國。

THE MAIN EXPORTING AND PRODUCING COUNTRIES IN LATIN AMERICA ARE拉美的主要出口國和生產國包括:

Domestic production in China declines for the third year in a row sharply.
中國國內芝麻籽的產量連續3年急劇下降。
Demand in China rising constantly over past 5 years due to high economic growth
由於中國的經濟高增長，在過去的5年裏中國對芝麻籽的需求卻在不斷地增加。
Supply in most African countries fell sharply more than 60/70 percent in Sudan, Ethiopia, Nigeria, most of West Africa due to heavy rains and flooding.由於蘇丹、埃塞俄比亞、尼日利亞和西非的多數國家都遭遇了大雨和洪災，因此非洲大多數國家供應芝麻籽的數量都急劇下降了60—70 %。

Record high prices of 07/08 will encourage growers in Africa and India to plant more sesame seeds.
2007 / 08年度芝麻籽創記錄的高價位，正在鼓勵著非洲的那些農民們將會種植更多的芝麻。
From the demand equation overall demand will continue to rise due to fast economic developments in Asia and stronger demand in Europe and North America as the populations in general learn to eat ethnic foods, and recognition of sesame seeds as a healthy food ingredient.
從需求的平衡來看，由於亞洲的經濟發展，以及歐洲和北美對芝麻籽需求的旺盛，人們一般都還想吃一些有特色的食品；而且人們還認識到，芝麻籽是一種健康食品的配料，因此對芝麻籽這種產品總的需求還將會繼續增長。
